The Best Egg Coffee Recipe

It was said by one of Mother Tynnetta Muhammad’s close companions that she referred to the egg coffee method given by The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as “The Supreme” egg coffee. This says to me that any other method simply won’t compare. He also referred to the coffee as a “health drink”.

Benefits of the egg coffee method:

  1. It lowers acidity levels in coffee

  2. It reduces the amount of caffeine

  3. It is very easy on the stomach

  4. It provides a light and smooth texture due to the purification process of this method

  5. It was considered to be a “complete vitamin” by The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, due to the nutrients of the egg and coffee

It was said that in the 1930’s and 40’s the Muslims were very poor and malnourished before the release of articles that would eventually make up the book, “How to Eat to Live”, written by The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, from God in Person.

The Messenger’s Coffee


You will need:

6 cups boiling water

1 whole egg, washed

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup gourmet coffee, ground

1 cup cold water


Method:

Step 1: In a saucepan, add coffee grinds to boiling water and cook 5 to 6 minutes.

Step 2: Meanwhile, break the egg into a cup; add salt; beat with a whisk until fluffy; break egg shell into beaten egg; mix together. After coffee has boiled 5 to 6 minutes, drop beaten egg plus shell into saucepan; allow to cook for 1 minute until egg is done; lower heat; add 1 cup of cold water to further help settle the grounds.

Step 3: After the coffee has somewhat cleared (its apt to be slightly muddy), about 3 minutes; strain and serve.
